One of the prominent Brazilian designers, Paulo Alves was born in the small city of Jardinópolis in 1965. Alves graduated as an architect and soon headed to Lina Bo Bard i 's office in São Paulo. Mastering the work with wood, Alves manufactures his creations inside his own joinery since 1994, influenced by modern shapes, by nature and by his fascination with the possibilities of this material as noble and incisive as the Brazilian culture. Paulo's drawings show his architect views, creating graceful and unique rational structures, with a freedom and freshness that brings up the legacy of the great masters from the modern Brazilian furniture. His concepts are found at his studio at Vila Madalena, in São Paulo, and in selected stores in the main capitals. The architect Paulo Alves keeps Marcenaria São Paulo (São Paulo Woodwork), founded in 2004, in the center of the city of the same name, in the neighborhood of Cambuci. Paulo follows the same line of thinking from the company's foundation. "The idea was a carpentry with all the materials coming from sustainable management or reuse, a concept little used by companies years ago when nobody thought of sustainability."
