Established in 1973, Qatar University (QU), the State of Qatar's first higher education institution, seeks to become a model national university in the Middle East region, recognized for high quality education and research, and for being a leader of economic and social development. The organization has produced over 60,000 graduates, among which are many leading figures in government and the public and private sector. From its beginnings as one college – the College of Education -- QU now has 11 colleges offering over 97 academic programs.
